RC Strasbourg Alsace have officially announced the departure of Valentín Barco (22) to Chelsea FC. Whilst no figures regarding the transfer fee have been disclosed as yet, the Alsatian club are expected to make a profit on the transfer, having paid nearly €10m to secure his services last summer.
Initially loaned to RCSA in the winter of 2025 by Brighton and Hove Albion, the Argentine signed a permanent contract with the club a few months later.
Quickly becoming a key member of the Strasbourg squad, Barco made 58 appearances across all competitions, including 43 last season – scoring three goals and providing eleven assists.
Like his former manager Liam Rosenior and his team-mate Emmanuel Emegha (23), the 25 de Mayo native is therefore also following the path from Racing to Chelsea, both clubs being owned by BlueCo. In joining the Blues, Barco has signed a seven-year contract, running until June 2033.
