Celtics Sign Devin Carter as He Aims for Roster Spot

The Boston Celtics have officially signed point guard Devin Carter, who will be vying for a spot on the team's roster or a two-way contract during the upcoming training camp. With the Celtics holding an open 15th roster position and sufficient cap space, Carter's performance in camp will be crucial for his future with the team.

Carter, a former lottery pick from Providence, has spent the last two seasons in the NBA with the Sacramento Kings before being traded to the Atlanta Hawks this summer. His time in the league has been marred by injuries, limiting him to just 74 games over two years. Last season, he averaged 8.9 points per game when he was able to play.

As he joins the Celtics, Carter faces two significant challenges: proving his ability to remain healthy and improving his 3-point shooting. Throughout his NBA career, he has struggled from beyond the arc, posting a shooting percentage of only 27.4%. Given the Celtics' emphasis on 3-point shooting under head coach Joe Mazzulla, Carter will need to demonstrate that he can contribute effectively from long range.
